All the things I wish I knew before I got my first ever puppy!
1. A GOOD VACUUM CLEANER
I never thought these words would be coming out of my mouth, but I was SO EXCITED when my new hoover arrived last weekend. So I suppose a vacuum cleaner is dependent on whether you have carpet or hard floors, but if you have anything that's material in your house, whether it be a sofa or a rug, dog fur/hair is going to get everywhere.

2. DISINFECTANT SPRAY
This is especially relevant for anyone with puppy's. Even if your breeder has done everything that they can to house train them pre you taking them home, the chances are they are going to have accidents indoors. Not only that you're going to have to deal with mucky paws, vomit and a whole array of lovely other things.
3 months in and I've gone through 3 bottles of Simple Solution spray. It's in a handy spray bottle and aside from been pet friendly, it also takes away the odour from dog urine that makes your dog want to mark again in the same place. You can use it on any water save surface so you can use it on fabric as well. It's a great time saver instead of having to get the mop out every time there's a mess on the floor!
3. PAW WIPES
This one is a bit of prevention is better than cure. Before your dog leaves little brown paw prints all over your white tiles, use paw wipes to give them a clean before they come in.
4. PET FRIENDLY CLEANING FLUID
When the disinfectant spray won't cut it and it's finally time to give the floor a good old mop, I personally use Zoflora. I mix it with water and put it in the karcher washer to clean the tiled floor once a week or so. It completely gets rid of any ‘doggy’ smell and it’s pet friendly (to a point- obviously don't let them lick it up!)
